Strength training can help you lose weight and keep it off. Most importantly, it keeps your body stabilised and functioning at its peak.
If lifting a barbell isn’t your thing, not to worry. ProsourceFit offers a great variety of strength training equipment for the home – practice kettlebell swings, release your frustrations with a slam ball, or use dumbbells. There are plenty of choices.
Why Incorporate Strength Training into My Routine?
As you build your strength, you also build:
- confidence
- independence
- immune system
- stamina
- mental toughness and clarity.
When you lose weight, you still want to keep your curves. Strength training helps, as it tones the muscle beneath the skin. It also improves the development of collagen (which keeps the skin firm). Doing strength training can minimise the appearance of excess skin caused by rapid weight loss.

Thanks for sharing this info. I didn’t know where to start on my weight training journey, but I think I’m going to try the medicine ball. I’ve seen some awesome results on friends who have used it so I think this would be a good start for me. I’m also considering getting some dumbbells as well. Thanks for your recommendations, this was just the push I needed.
No problem, I’m glad you found this helpful. All the best, thanks for reading.
I love this post! I’ve been looking for more ways to incorporate weight training into my fitness routine.
I am a person who gets bored very easily so switching it up really helps. The ideas you’ve listed here are awesome. I love kettlebells but I have been looking to find more routines to do with them. Do you have any suggestions for good workouts utilizing kettlebells?
I also love the gymnastic hand wrap because when I’ve done weightlifting in the past, my hands ended up with so many calluses. So I would recommend these to anyone who is looking to get into weight training or even people who have been weight training and don’t use them.
Thank you so much for this awesome post! I loved it!
Hi Madysen, glad you enjoyed it. Kettlebells are cool, you should check out FitnessBlender, BodyFitbyAmy, and HASfit channels on YouTube. They have a variety of other workouts too so you’ll never get bored! Stay awesome and thanks for reading!
Hi there, yes I’m definitely a fan of strength training although the programme I’m doing at the moment is more cardio based as I’m recovering from an injury so will gradually re-introduce weight. This post really gives a variety of options for strength training at home. The classic slam ball I’ve seen before but is still relatively new to me. From what you’ve shared though, the dumbbells are probably my favourites for strength training apart from bodyweight of course. I find the ankle and wrist weights are quite versatile as they can be used in cardio workouts along with strength training workouts to add that little bit more resistance. Overall though, the equipment you mentioned will certainly allow you to get in a good workout at home.
Hi Tamika, dumbbells are awesome as there’s so much you can do with them, and incorporate them into your bodyweight routines. Kettlebells are similar and challenging. And like you say, they can be done with cardio too. Good luck with it all, thanks for reading.
This is a very helpful and informative post on strength training equipment which would be perfect for our home gyms.
Hi Enrique, I’m glad you found it helpful, thanks for reading.
